We live.. I promise!

I have been taking a little break from blogging the past few weeks. Between sicknesses, my allergies, trying to enjoy summer to the very last day, and just being tired... there has been a lot keeping me away!

But we are alive and life has been full! Jordan took me to Le Mis at Wolf Trap! That was so much fun~

Jack had a mysterious rash, that had me quite freaked out. It started out small, but then one day he woke up from a nap looking like this. I had already taken him to the Dr. and they did not know what it was.... so I had to wait it out. Poor little guy. It took over a week for all those awful spots to finally go away!

In the meantime, I felt like people looked at him as if he was a child with some plague! Tyler got it too, but not as bad! Then, on top of it all, I got some flu thing at the same time! That was a rough week at our house!


To make summer even longer, we have been using the sprinkler! Tyler loves it so much. I love this shot, because he looks like the little boy I think he will be one day- he doesn't look like a toddler, but a boy...

And now we are up and running again... Jack is over 9 months and crawling everywhere! Always in motion!


He has 4 teeth and one more on the verge of breaking through! He seems to have slowed down in growth. At his 9 month appointment, he was 20 lbs 9 oz, and 29 inches long. Only in the 75% for height (down from 95%) and 50% for weight (also down from 90%)!!

And now, this Sunday, we are off to Corolla North Carolina for a 2 week vacation with the Kauflin side of the family! Can't wait to be with my honey and our family for 2 whole weeks of vacation!

I will try to post again before we go, and MAYBE get one up while we are away- for anyone who might still be reading this almost dead blog!! :)

Good to read your update. You know, Ollie came down with that same crazy rash. The older kids had a fever, but no spots..
So glad you get to be with your fam for 2 weeks-have a blessed time!

Tali so wierd the whole rash thing. Joseph and Andrew have it to. Except not on there faces. The dr told me it is viral but did not know what it was. I am glad he is doing better!!!
Have a wonderful trip! Enjoy I will be praying for great weather for you guys.

.coming home.

Well, the past 24 hours have changed things again for us! The biggest update, is that we are being discharged tomorrow afternoon some time! The reason this is so crazy is that the Dr. who was on the floor yesterday, was telling us she wanted to keep us here for the entire first month of Jack's treatment. We had begun to think through how we could do this as a family and all the changes that would entail.... and then our nurse came in this morning and told us she was pretty certain we were going home, as early as today if we wanted!! Let me tell you about the past three days that lead up to this decision of our doctor. Firstly, you should know that when Jack was diagnosed with Leukemia, he had a blast count in his blood of 37. That count is now at ZERO!!!! After the central line was put in on Thursday, they began his chemo treatments Friday. He had been having a fever up until that time. He has responded so well to the chemo, and other medications, that he has been fever free since...

at the hospital

I have long been meaning to update about the health of our family, but as you will read, we have not had much time for the blog. As I write, I am sitting in the Pediatric Emergency Room, waiting for Jack to return from getting a sonogram done on his abdomen. For the past month, he has been pretty sick, with ear infections, and various other ailments. The issues became pressing, when we noticed his glands in his groin area swollen and he was limping. This quickly escalated to where he could no longer walk at all. We took him for blood work, and they found that he had gotten Lyme Disease. We thought we had caught it in the early stages, and so the Dr. began a cycle of amoxicillin . That was 3 weeks ago. His glands all over his body have continued to swell, and he has been pretty much miserable. So here we are today, to see if this is all Lyme Disease, or if something else is causing all of this.
