Home Sweet Home

After spending nearly a week in NC, I was glad to be home! My comfy bed, my hubby... You know, all the things that make home such a sweet place to be! When I got home, Wednesday afternoon, I took a look outside, just happen to glance out the back window to see the most lovely welcome home "bouquet" ever... my garden had blossomed! My rose bush was just exploding with blossoms and my peony bush was falling over due to the weight of all the flowers. I had fun arranging the peony's (photo above) as ants and spiders kept jumping out of them on me! My time in Carolina was fun, tiring and a lot of work! My poor sister, had a house full of screaming children- and unfortunately, my kids were doing a good bit of it! It was not the quiet place it should have been for a new mommy, so we knew it was high time for us to hit the road! I was happy to serve my sister and her husband while we were there... it was the first time in a long time I felt I was able to do so! I had kitchen duty

And here she is

Katelyn Grace Abernethy May 22, 2008 6:58 PM 6 lbs 9 oz ~ 20 inches ~1 day old~ ~welcome to the world little one~ my little disclaimer: since I am away from my coputer, these pictures are completely unedited. I can't wait to get home and work on them~

She is here! Lotte delivered her baby at 8:58 PM after only 15 minutes of pushing. Baby girl weighed in at 6lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. She is skinny and long! Can't tell yet who she looks like yet, but she is adorable. The delivery was so fast- unlike the labor. When she got to the hospital, she was still not dilated at all! By the time we got to the hospital at 6 pm (travelling with two kids takes longer than I thought!) she was only 3 cm and maybe 50% effaced and very discouraged. The Dr. had just told her that is she stayed at 3 cm for a bit longer (she had been in labor for almost 12 hrs at that point) they might have to do a C-section to avoid the risk of infection, since her water had broken.... so needless to say, she was a little discouraged. So we prayed! I asked the Lord to do what only he could do and for His glory! How faithful he is! So then, after spending a good bit of time massaging her tummy during contractions and prayer, she got to 5 cm and 90%... then a short

On our way to North Carolina after all...

After my sister saw her OB yesterday, we thought we were in for bit of a wait until her sweet girl made her arrival-- she wasn't dilated AT ALL and she had not dropped or effaced either.... so my plans to go to North Carolina had been postponed until she went into labor- so that when we got there, we would be able to stay for a little while. HOWEVER... at 7 am, her water broke!!! On her due date!!! SO... it looks like we are heading to North Carolina after all!!! I will hopefully be on the road with the boys by 10 and in Carolina by 3 or 4! I will try to keep posting as things progress, but since I will be driving for most of the day, there might not be an update until tonight! Pray for an easy, safe and smooth delivery for my sister and her girlie! I am SO excited! The only sad thing, is that I will not get to have a date with my husband tonight before he leaves for NA.... (I will miss your terribly my love. ) Check back later tonight for a baby update!

Long over due...

I think I owe an apology to all of you "faithful" readers of my blog.. there has not been a whole lot to read these days. I just have had a busy past few weeks, and have not been very faithful! This past week, Jack had his first ear infection, and it was a big one. In both ears, it caused him to get a temperature of 103.2 at one point, and my normally happy boy was very sad. He also had a cold on top of that... he was a mess! How do they learn to pout like this.....? Now that he is feeling better, I have a little more time to tell of what we have been up to... So we painted the kitchen! My Abba (dad) installed some wood shutters in the bay window in the kitchen and my mom bought me a lovely aqua tea kettle for mothers day, and some other wonderful kitchen things in the same color... which inspired me to finally paint the kitchen. This was something I have been wanting to do for some time, but lacked motivation... it isn't quite as dark yellow as the pictures portray. Th
