Home Sweet Home

After spending nearly a week in NC, I was glad to be home! My comfy bed, my hubby... You know, all the things that make home such a sweet place to be! When I got home, Wednesday afternoon, I took a look outside, just happen to glance out the back window to see the most lovely welcome home "bouquet" ever... my garden had blossomed! My rose bush was just exploding with blossoms and my peony bush was falling over due to the weight of all the flowers. I had fun arranging the peony's (photo above) as ants and spiders kept jumping out of them on me!
My time in Carolina was fun, tiring and a lot of work! My poor sister, had a house full of screaming children- and unfortunately, my kids were doing a good bit of it! It was not the quiet place it should have been for a new mommy, so we knew it was high time for us to hit the road! I was happy to serve my sister and her husband while we were there... it was the first time in a long time I felt I was able to do so! I had kitchen duty, was the lactation consultant, and buddy to the new mommy. It was certainly busy, as I cooked for all of us (5 adults and 3 children) while we were there. I don't think I would have been any help to anyone, if I had not had the help of my parents too. My dad was such a servant. He took care of both boys on numerous occasions, just so I could be with Lotte or get things done! He was my personal hero!

Since being home, we have been unpacking and trying to get life back in order! Between unpacking me and the boys and Jordan from NA, doing laundry and getting the house back in order, we made time for picnic lunches. I think that is one of my favorite things to do with Tyler. We just sit in our back yard under our big old maple tree and enjoy being outside! And now that Jack is sitting up all by himself, it makes it even more enjoyable for all of us!

Tyler loves his baby brother... always giving him kisses... and hugs.. and knocking him over... and "patting" his belly.... I love to watch them together. I am so excited to see what kind of fun/mischievous things they get into ...

I can't believe Jack is already 6 months old! Time has flown by so fast! He is sitting up by himself now, eating solids like a champ, babbling and squealing all day long. I think he is going to be a talker like his big brother. He still is such a happy boy. He hasn't had is 6 month check up yet, that is next week sometime... but I think he weighs 20 lbs. We had to get him a big boy car seat! I just could not carry the infant carrier anymore, and I think he was pretty uncomfortable being strapped into that thing!

Tyler, who has been more emotional of late than I ever thought a child could be, has also been growing, and talking so much more. He says the cutest complete sentences... and tries so hard to be a big boy... everything we do, he wants to try. I love his silly little self, even when he is in the middle of an emotional breakdown!

More pictures and updates when I have a chance!

And here she is

She is here! Lotte delivered her baby at 8:58 PM after only 15 minutes of pushing. Baby girl weighed in at 6lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. She is skinny and long! Can't tell yet who she looks like yet, but she is adorable.

The delivery was so fast- unlike the labor. When she got to the hospital, she was still not dilated at all! By the time we got to the hospital at 6 pm (travelling with two kids takes longer than I thought!) she was only 3 cm and maybe 50% effaced and very discouraged. The Dr. had just told her that is she stayed at 3 cm for a bit longer (she had been in labor for almost 12 hrs at that point) they might have to do a C-section to avoid the risk of infection, since her water had broken.... so needless to say, she was a little discouraged.

So we prayed! I asked the Lord to do what only he could do and for His glory! How faithful he is! So then, after spending a good bit of time massaging her tummy during contractions and prayer, she got to 5 cm and 90%... then a short while later she had made it to 10... amazing!

The most amazing thing, was that I was a witness to her birth! I have always wanted to coach someone through a delivery, and it was amazing. She did such a great job, and it was so great to be able to encourage her through it. I will never forget this experience.

The boys did terrific at the hospital. My mom and dad were such servants and helped me care for them. And when it came time for the baby to be born, my dad took care of both kids so my mom and I could be there with my sister. It was so much better than I could have imagined and I am so grateful that we were able to be there for this time. God is so good and blessed us so much! As much as I want to post some of the adorable pictures I got of her today, I am tired, and will work on getting some up tomorrow!

Thanks again to those of you who prayed for her today! Pictures and updates to come!

On our way to North Carolina after all...

After my sister saw her OB yesterday, we thought we were in for bit of a wait until her sweet girl made her arrival-- she wasn't dilated AT ALL and she had not dropped or effaced either.... so my plans to go to North Carolina had been postponed until she went into labor- so that when we got there, we would be able to stay for a little while.

HOWEVER... at 7 am, her water broke!!! On her due date!!! SO... it looks like we are heading to North Carolina after all!!! I will hopefully be on the road with the boys by 10 and in Carolina by 3 or 4!

I will try to keep posting as things progress, but since I will be driving for most of the day, there might not be an update until tonight! Pray for an easy, safe and smooth delivery for my sister and her girlie! I am SO excited! The only sad thing, is that I will not get to have a date with my husband tonight before he leaves for NA.... (I will miss your terribly my love. )

Check back later tonight for a baby update!

Long over due...

I think I owe an apology to all of you "faithful" readers of my blog.. there has not been a whole lot to read these days. I just have had a busy past few weeks, and have not been very faithful!

This past week, Jack had his first ear infection, and it was a big one. In both ears, it caused him to get a temperature of 103.2 at one point, and my normally happy boy was very sad. He also had a cold on top of that... he was a mess! How do they learn to pout like this.....?

Now that he is feeling better, I have a little more time to tell of what we have been up to...

So we painted the kitchen! My Abba (dad) installed some wood shutters in the bay window in the kitchen and my mom bought me a lovely aqua tea kettle for mothers day, and some other wonderful kitchen things in the same color... which inspired me to finally paint the kitchen. This was something I have been wanting to do for some time, but lacked motivation... it isn't quite as dark yellow as the pictures portray. The shutters make such a difference in the room, and the fresh paint just makes it so much nicer than before!

It is very happy and cheerful in the kitchen now! I love it!

This past weekend, I was able to get together with friends from high school to celebrate our 10 year reunion. Sadly, we were not able to get in touch with everyone... but a good showing came and we had a fun catching up. Crazy that our my kids were playing with the children on my childhood friends... It was hard to believe 10 years have passed! Here are a few pictures. I wasn't able to take too many with the boys....

This past weekend we took the boys on an "adventure"... that is what Tyler calls a hike in the woods... so fun to see him do such totally boy things... like throw rocks, jump in puddles, poke tadpoles, and get all muddy. We had a picnic and just enjoyed the day together. So fun! I know we will be doing this again.

And in addition to life in general, I am trying to learn how to use Photoshop and take better pictures in general... so here are a few of the ones I have been working on!

And, we are waiting on the arrival of my sister's first baby. Her due date is THIS Thursday... so we are getting close! Hopefully not too much longer now!

And that is the latest here. Hopefully I will get another post up of life updates this week!
