.Addison Update 3.


After a wonderfully long day, I am so happy to say that the surgery on Addison was a success! She responded great to everything that was done and is in recovery. The Dr. told us that the next 24 hours are critical to monitor her, and see how her heart responds to all that was done today, but they also will be monitoring her extremely close during this time.

When we went back to see her, the Dr. and nurses were all there, with many encouraging things to say and answer all of our questions. Lotte and Wes are pretty exhausted at this point(So is everyone I think!), so they hopefully will be getting some rest over the next few days. We were given the range of Addison being able to come home from 8 days to 8 months- depending on the results of the surgery. Right now, we are hopeful for the 8 days.

Here are a few pictures of Addison after surgery. I am heading back to MD tomorrow, and so there will not be any more pictures from me for a few weeks, until I can come back down again and visit. I will continue to share how she is doing, however.

Thank you all again for your support and prayers during this time. We have seen the hand of God in so many ways, in so many provisions, and are full of gratefulness for all He has done during this time. Once I am home, I hope to be able to recount all the ways we have seen him at work, as it has truly been a humbling and faith building time. Isn't it so wonderful to know that no situation is too big for our Great God!

Tali,
I will be praying for your sister and her husband and for you and rest of your family. I can't even imagine having to go through this trial as I had 3 easy pregnancies and 3 c-sections without any complications. It gives me an opportunity to be grateful for my children and my experiences. I'm sure you're having a difficult time heading back home and not being there for your sister. I will be keeping Addison and everyone in my prayers.

Tali~My son Ariel was postmature as well, and hooked up like this for several weeks (total of 33 days in the NICU), on a ventilator, un-holdable. It breaks your heart to see them, to be home without your newborn, not to be able to nurse them and cuddle them. But I am praying for your sister to experience God's amazing grace and comfort and to run to Him when she is afraid. "Whom have I in heaven but You? There is none on earth I desire besides You."

.coming home.

Well, the past 24 hours have changed things again for us! The biggest update, is that we are being discharged tomorrow afternoon some time! The reason this is so crazy is that the Dr. who was on the floor yesterday, was telling us she wanted to keep us here for the entire first month of Jack's treatment. We had begun to think through how we could do this as a family and all the changes that would entail.... and then our nurse came in this morning and told us she was pretty certain we were going home, as early as today if we wanted!! Let me tell you about the past three days that lead up to this decision of our doctor. Firstly, you should know that when Jack was diagnosed with Leukemia, he had a blast count in his blood of 37. That count is now at ZERO!!!! After the central line was put in on Thursday, they began his chemo treatments Friday. He had been having a fever up until that time. He has responded so well to the chemo, and other medications, that he has been fever free since...

.Day by Day.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul. Therefore I will hope in Him." Lamentations 3:22-24 This has been the cry of my heart these past few days. When thoughts of the future loom ahead and what this is going to look like in a week, month, year are ever present, we are seeking to take things one day at a time. And even as we take it one day at a time, each morning, we are faced with more of the unknown- what the day will bring, how Jack will be feeling, how he will respond to his meds, how he will respond to the staff here, when the nasty side-effects of chemo will begin... the list of unknowns are seemingly endless. Not only is the thought of what the day will bring full of unknowns, but we are also very tired, as we are not sleeping much at night and so we are tempted to view the day through the filter of weariness.
