Long over due...

I think I owe an apology to all of you "faithful" readers of my blog.. there has not been a whole lot to read these days. I just have had a busy past few weeks, and have not been very faithful!

This past week, Jack had his first ear infection, and it was a big one. In both ears, it caused him to get a temperature of 103.2 at one point, and my normally happy boy was very sad. He also had a cold on top of that... he was a mess! How do they learn to pout like this.....?

Now that he is feeling better, I have a little more time to tell of what we have been up to...

So we painted the kitchen! My Abba (dad) installed some wood shutters in the bay window in the kitchen and my mom bought me a lovely aqua tea kettle for mothers day, and some other wonderful kitchen things in the same color... which inspired me to finally paint the kitchen. This was something I have been wanting to do for some time, but lacked motivation... it isn't quite as dark yellow as the pictures portray. The shutters make such a difference in the room, and the fresh paint just makes it so much nicer than before!

It is very happy and cheerful in the kitchen now! I love it!

This past weekend, I was able to get together with friends from high school to celebrate our 10 year reunion. Sadly, we were not able to get in touch with everyone... but a good showing came and we had a fun catching up. Crazy that our my kids were playing with the children on my childhood friends... It was hard to believe 10 years have passed! Here are a few pictures. I wasn't able to take too many with the boys....

This past weekend we took the boys on an "adventure"... that is what Tyler calls a hike in the woods... so fun to see him do such totally boy things... like throw rocks, jump in puddles, poke tadpoles, and get all muddy. We had a picnic and just enjoyed the day together. So fun! I know we will be doing this again.

And in addition to life in general, I am trying to learn how to use Photoshop and take better pictures in general... so here are a few of the ones I have been working on!

And, we are waiting on the arrival of my sister's first baby. Her due date is THIS Thursday... so we are getting close! Hopefully not too much longer now!

And that is the latest here. Hopefully I will get another post up of life updates this week!

Diagnosis and Grace

Friends- "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" Psalm46:1 Much has happened since I last wrote only 2 short days ago. We found out much later that night a new diagnosis, that our sweet boy has leukemia . We were not completely shocked but we were certainly shaken. After I posted about what was going on at Shady Grove, and we waited a bit more for some results, and we were informed that we needed to take Jack to Children's Hospital in DC for further testing with specialists. This raised our concern level quite high as you can imagine, that even with a snow storm coming, we were needing to make this trip. I began to google the combination of things they had found in the tests done on our little boy (swollen spleen, low platelet count , swollen lymph nodes) and came up options that were NOT Lyme disease, although a few of these symptoms did also look like Lyme. As a result of the google quest, I came across some concerning outcomes, one of the most

Just too funny

I had to share this funny moment with Tyler. I guess I will always be a cheerleader at heart- so I was cooking dinner and decided to do a little "cheer" of Tyler's name for him to see what he would do.... and he just laughed so hard- it was on the verge of crying! See the little video below!

.Results and Re-Admission.

I am so happy to share that the results from the bone marrow biopsy came back with the results we had hoped and prayed for! They said they found less than 0.1% Leukemic cells in his bone marrow!!! So this is such great news! The prognosis is a good one, and now we get to keep marching on into the next 3 years of making sure the Leukemia does not come back and he is fully in remission! Thank you all so much for all the prayers said on our behalf! I also have the happy report of how last night and this morning went as well... So last night, we woke Jack up at 11:30 to feed him one last time before midnight. He was so sweet and groggy but ate a bunch of nuggets and french fries. We gave him a bottle and put him in bed at midnight and hoped for the best... well, he did not wake up again until 4:45... which was AMAZING for us and him! That was a long stretch for the little guy! After that he cried for a while and Jordan tried distracting him with books and holding him for a while. Jordan w
